Shared experiences. Your adventure.

Rides for all abilities

The joy of exploring Melbourne should feel welcoming. We take the time to listen, understand what matters to you and talk through how a sidecar ride could work for you.

Talk to us about your ride

An experience built around you

We are proud to have helped people with a wide range of support needs enjoy a new experience, share a special moment and discover Melbourne from the sidecar.

We welcome enquiries from people with intellectual or psychosocial disability, physical disability or limited mobility, and people who are blind, have low vision, are Deaf or hard of hearing. Tell us how you prefer to communicate and what would help you feel comfortable.

Every rider is different. Before booking, we will discuss seating, getting into and out of the sidecar, helmet fit, communication and any support you may need. Together, we can work out whether the ride is suitable for you.

Time to connect, explore and enjoy

Our sidecar rides are recreational experiences, not therapy or clinical support. They offer a different way to get outdoors, explore Melbourne and share an adventure.

A ride can be a chance to spend time together, explore a favourite place or try something new. You, your family or your support person are welcome to contact us to discuss your ideas.

Let us know about sensory preferences, breaks or any concerns before the day. We will explain the ride and equipment clearly and discuss what we can accommodate.

Comfort and confidence come first

If you have ever wondered whether you are too small or too big for an adventure like this, please talk to us. We welcome people of different body sizes and will discuss seating, equipment fit and comfort with you individually.

We do not assume that a diagnosis, age or body size tells us what someone can do. We listen to you and assess the practical requirements of the ride together.

Self-managed and plan-managed participants

SideCarRides is not a registered NDIS provider. We work only with self-managed or plan-managed participants when services are arranged through NDIS funding.

Self-managed and plan-managed participants can generally choose unregistered providers for supports that do not require mandatory registration. This does not mean every ride is an NDIS-funded support: please check the proposed service and funding arrangements with your plan manager or the NDIS before booking.

We strongly support and follow the NDIS Code of Conduct. It applies to registered and unregistered providers and workers. Respect, choice, privacy and safe, competent service are central to how we treat every rider.

Read the NDIS Commission’s guidance about provider registration.

What could your ride include?

Tell us about the places you enjoy, the sights you would like to see and what makes an outing comfortable for you. We can discuss a Melbourne sightseeing route, a bayside outing or a stop along the way, subject to your chosen ride, timing and conditions.

There is no need to have ridden a motorcycle before. We will explain the equipment and what to expect before setting off. A sidecar ride involves engine noise, wind and road movement, so please discuss sensory sensitivities with us beforehand.

Your questions, answered

Do I need to be an NDIS participant?

No. Our rides are open to the general public. If you want to arrange a service through NDIS funding, we work only with self-managed or plan-managed participants, subject to the service being eligible.

Can I bring a family member or support person?

Our standard rides accommodate one or two passengers. Contact us to discuss who will ride, seating and the support you need. We will confirm the arrangements before you book.

What if I need help getting into the sidecar?

Please contact us before booking to discuss access, transfers and seating. Let us know what assistance or equipment you normally use so we can assess whether we can safely accommodate your needs. Accessibility is assessed individually.

Can the experience be adapted to my preferences?

Tell us your interests, preferred way of communicating and any concerns. We will discuss possible routes, stops and adjustments with you in advance, within the practical limits of the ride.

How long are the rides?

Classic is 45 minutes and Great Escape is 90 minutes. Contact us to discuss which experience might suit you.

Let’s plan your adventure together

Tell us what you would like to experience and the support or adjustments you may need. We will talk through the details before you book.
